Opening Prayer

We come here to worship you, O God, because you have called us.  As we worship, may we realize the parched state of our souls, and know that only you can provide refreshing waters.  We may notice that we are spiritually hungry, and so we ask for this hour to be a time when we can feast the green pastures.  We may realize that we have wandered from the path you would have us walk, and so we ask that you lead us back to the right path.  We go gratefully where you will lead us.  Amen.

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.  Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for Thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory forever.  Amen.

TOP 10 REASONS YOU SHOULD SIGN UP TO HAVE YOUR PICTURE IN THE DIRECTORY: #10 Without you, the world will miss the opportunity to see God’s beautiful Creation.  Call Sue Rice (301-946-1758) to sign up or stop at the table in the Narthex today!

The VIM trip to New Orleans is drawing near.  St. Paul’s needs $3000 to assist with the building costs (spent on site).  An anonymous challenge has been presented: $1500 has been donated – can the congregations match it?

Bible Study options are available - sign up sheets are placed on a table in the Narthex.

There are children’s bulletins available each Sunday with a place to draw/write sermon notes.  Kids, feel free to turn those into the office and receive a reward at the end of summer.

St. Paul’s Friendship ProgramSurrounding St. Paul’s Church are many people, especially newcomers to our country who yearn to be our friends.  By becoming their friends we have an opportunity to serve Christ.  Montgomery County has the largest number of first generation immigrants of any county in Maryland, and many of these individuals would like to learn better English (Being Friends of Isolated Adults).  Without adults from whom they can learn, they are isolated.  The Justice and Compassion Ministry Team has been engaged in establishing a program by which members of our congregation would befriend students (Tutoring and Mentoring Students) by becoming their tutors on Saturdays.  Please sign up for the Friendship Program in the church office.  There will be a meeting in August to discuss the Program where the hopes and concerns of all members are welcome.
