a The Women’s Faith Sharing Group, begun in Lent, will conclude with a half day “pilgrimage and retreat” at the National Cathedral in D.C. on Tuesday June 6, from 10-1, led by Terri Simpson (Mary Jo and George’s daughter). This will be a time of meditation and reflection.  All women of St. Paul’s are invited to attend the pilgrimage.   Cost is $15.  Please sign up in the office.

aa The United Methodist Men are having their last supper & general meeting on June 7th at 6:30 p.m.  This time will be a cookout featuring hamburgers, hotdogs and the like.  Men are encouraged to bring their sons.  This is a free event – no payment required!  Sign up in the office.

aaa Lydia Circle will meet for dinner on June 7th, 7 p.m. at Normandie Farm Restaurant.  Please call Elaine Neidecker if you have any questions (301-881-1691).

aaaa The United Methodist Women Mother-Daughter Tea will be held on Saturday, June 10 from 2-4 p.m. in Heavener Hall.  All women, including children, are welcome.  Since June is the month for weddings, our theme will be weddings.  Anyone who wishes to do so may wear their wedding dress or may bring their wedding dress for display.  It will be fun to see how wedding dresses have changed over the years.  Or bring pictures of your wedding to share.  They will be a great conversation starter.  If you plan to bring a dress for display, please call Virginia Bickford (301-598-5496) so she can plan adequate display space.  Come join the fun!  Please sign up in the office today; cost is $6 adults and $3 for children under twelve.

UNITED FOR CHILDREN CAMPAIGN

Zimbabwe Sponsorships Available June 3-11

Several years ago, the Baltimore-Washington Conference of The United Methodist Church entered into a partnership with the Zimbabwe Annual Conference. One of the fruits has been the United For Children Campaign, through which individuals or families in the United States can sponsor, for $28 per month, a child under the care and supervision of a Methodist ministry or institution in Zimbabwe. Many of the children are AIDS orphans, and both the sponsored children, and their entire communities, benefit from every sponsorship.  At the June Pancake breakfast, and on Sunday mornings, June 4 and 11, St. Paul’s Council on Children’s Ministries will have packets available for a number of children and teenagers who are in need of sponsors. Please consider sponsoring a child, and making a difference in a child’s life – and a community’s future!

Book Discussion, June 11, 11:30 a.m. in Room 109.  Mike McCurry will lead Part 2 of a conversation about Jim Wallis’ book God’s Politics.  It will focus on the question: “How can we respond to Wallis’ call to be active and engaged in our community around one of the prophetic models he proposes in the book.”

For those that would like to donate to the earthquake disaster in Indonesia, you may do so by making out checks to St Paul’s UMC and on the memo line write “UMCOR” #982450”.

We would like to extend a special thank you to Clarence & Marybelle Waldorf, Bob & Elaine Neidecker, John & Jean Thompson and Kate & John Brown for serving as wheel chair escorts and for worshiping with our seniors at Asbury Methodist Village, Wilson Health Center.

Many thanks to Donna Griffin for her work on the Red Cross Blood Drive.  We are grateful!

Last call for the VIM New Orleans trip - please pay your $50 deposit TODAY (if you haven’t already)!!  Thank you.
